I am newer to US colonials as a collecting area, but I have been starting to work on the impossible task of a Vermont collection by die type. I got this one in today's mail, and am trying to figure out the Ryder number. I have it narrowed down to two possibilities: RR-20 or RR-37. The reverse of the coin is very worn and corroded making it difficult to easily tell the type. From what I can tell, the main difference is in the hand's position relative to the D, the branch relative to the E, and a double line in separating the date in the exergue. The hand's position to the D seems to be closer to RR-37, but it is difficult to tell for sure, especially as the date (1788) is almost not visible. Any thoughts? hand-and-D.jpg IMG_1973.JPG IMG_1974.JPG IMG_1975.JPG IMG_1977.JPG

    RR-20 is my guess.

Obverse of 20 and 37 is the same. Check out the shape of the shield on the rev.
