You folks are so polite. Nobody corrected me on my typo. If I give him a 64-S dime, I better throw in a 2006 quarter.
"You folks are so polite. Nobody corrected me on my typo" Nevst. Oh I thought your fingers might have been frost bitten or something when you typed it in the first place, you know Vermont and all. "I'll tell ya what I think - I think you're crazy" GD. GD, for over a year I have had an avatar of a cheerleader jumping on a coin forum and now you starting to think that something doesn't add up
That may be true, sylvester. I suppose that British coinage is your strong point, but I would also guess that you have a far better understanding of US coins, than most of the collectors on this side of the Atlantic. It never ceases to amaze me, at how many new collectors ask; "Should I send my 2002 Ohio Silver Proof quarter in to be graded?", rather than asking; "Who designed the Ohio commemorative Statehood quarter reverse?".
You've got a point there Jody! Too many people think of one thing and one thing only; MONEY. So i agree with you on that point; Oh and that and i'm no big fan of slabbing...

Down under As a newbie,I am learning- not yet into British coins, my reference books are from Australia, I have mostly Australian coins with a few American coins I have received as gifts. I know in a while as I start tracing my coinage history back, I will end up in the UK - My wifes side of the family avoids the UK -4 generations back they were some of the original convict settlers on the sunburnt country the land down under. so as this Auzzie by adoption - a yank with a down under attitude. I thank you for all the HIGHBROW info. If I was back down under I would buy you a tall one. In the meantime- Thank you for the great education. I am really enjoying the learning I am getting at this forum and the help everyone is willing to give without making me feel as stupid about the subject as I know I currently am. Richard
A friend of mine just went through a couple of years of hard times. She graduated college 12-18-04. I got her a proof 2004 Silver Eagle to mark the occasion. If you think about the symbolism: She finished a goal she has been working on for years, and as 2004 ends, she begins a new chapter in her life. The obverse of the Silver Eagle is Miss Liberty walking into the dawn. I thought it was a cool parallel, so I got her the proof.
