Hi Friends, I believe I have found a 1993 Wide AM ......Anybody have any ideas on this ? I know it is rough but is it rare and valuable ?
Welcome to CT! Notice how the "M" is closer to the "A" in America? And the left leg of the "M" looks skinny? If the left legs was normal width the A and M would almost be touching. These are indicators of a close AM. For a wide AM the "M" in America would be more centered in between the A and the E.
I have looked up other wide AM's which are graded they do have a skinny leg of M as well so maybe a chance ?
This is from a 99' wide "AM" I know it is spaced far apart but maybe there were different dies used perhaps ? The leg of the M is skinnier on the left too ?
Okay lets look at the other markers. On your Whole coin picture of the reverse. Look at the "A" is States. Notice how it is slightly closer to the second "T" than the first "T"? This is also an indicator of a Close AM. The "A" in States is also centered in between the "T.s" on an Wide AM. The 3rd Marker is the initials "FG" on reverse. On a Wide AM coin the "FG" is closer to the memorial that yours is. As a Side note. This would be the 1st 1993 Wide AM found if it was one and be very valuable I believe. Check out this page for more on Wide/Close AMs. http://lincolncentresource.com/wideams.html
This is up to you. IMO it is worth 1 cent and not worth sending in as it is not a Wide AM...a spender or keep it for learning purposes.
These guys have been at it a long long LONG time, they.do know what they're talking about. Patience Grasshopper.
No, not Wide AM. Second way to verify if Wide or Close AM is always look at the distance of initials from memorial. If close it's a wide A M, if farther away, close AM.
