I still haven't figured out, how to get it out of this case . Guess I'll have to use the scope, to figure that one out . Lol ...
I thought that too. But the silver raised is more flat ( wide ) then sharp looking, which I think a hit from the rim ( reeding ) would leave .. Just what I'm thinking too ....
is there slight damage on the bottom of the tail feather, the V, some on the L and the slight rim ding. Looks like a slight line/arc from those 4 areas .. just guessing.
There's no hits to be found, neither in the fields or anywhere else, other then the areas of question .. So those areas could of been caused from striking, why not .......
Rick i have to agree with you in the close-up You can see it's not a hit I'm going to go with the debris in the die.Nice catch Rick. USMC60
@Rick Stachowski - Use an X-Acto knife to separate the halves of the airtite. If it had been a strikethrough, there wouldn't be any raised metal. Damage! Just plain old damage! Chris
Rick I'm sure when you get it out of the plastic, you're going to take some better photos of the area.
I'm not even going to guess until you remove it from the holder. An X-Acto blade or scoring the edge with a dental pick might get you there. Keep us posted Rick.
I'm just getting back in from dads, first spring without my mother . We rake, cut the lawn, which is acre lot . Wanted to til the garden, but to many weeds to do that . So out came the sprayer, fill it with weed killer and went to town spraying . O-ya, I'll cut that coin out and get some good shots up ...
cpm9ball I want to make sure I'm understanding you. Debris will not cause a raise of metal on the surface of a coin. USMC60
Wasn't that bad to get out, my oldest son will be happy . It's his coin, but if I know him, he bought it for me .. He was having a hard time getting it out and didn't want to hurt the coin .
I'm totally shuffling in the muck when I say this, but is it possible that the metal taken off the V was pressed into the coin during the strike? I'd like to hear what @Fred Weinberg would have to say about this anomaly.
