The edge filing is certainly suspicious - could just be something done by the cleaner or a previous owner and I have seen bronze disease removed from the edge of a coin in a similar way but it could be hiding a seam. I do not like the raised metal spots on the coin either though and they make me very suspicious. The patina also looks like it has been painted on, which is another thing that is not in itself evidence of forgery, but should raise suspicions. Finally, the letters in particular have a very soft look. Overall, a coin that at least from these photos I would be too suspicious of and would not buy but not one I'm prepared to say is absolutely inauthentic.

Are the spots like the one on the neck, the cheek and the one in front of the nose actually raised out of the coin like that or are they just breaks in the patina that give the appearance?

I do not see a problem with the edge, but the soft lettering makes me suspicious.

Carausius Brother, can you spare a sestertius?

Please provide size and weight. That information would help. I don't like the softness and the surfaces. One edge photo shows filing, while the other does not.

Thanks. Size and weight are not suspicious - they are within tolerances for a well-worn sestertius.

There appear to be casting bubbles on both sides. File marks on edge are also damning. In my opinion it is a cast copy.
