Starting to become more interested in silver dollars. When I came across this one at a gold buyer for $80 I just could not leave it there. Really don't know if I did good or not. Would love to know what the wonderful C.T community thinks. Did I get a good VAM? 20170417_201907.jpg 20170417_201757.jpg all opinions welcome good bad or ugly

Nice XF 21 Peace but can't say anything about it as a VAM. Definitely worth $80
But would not be booking any flights :)
You might checkout http://www.vamworld.com/home for VAMS duh always helps to proof read

My 1991 Third Edition VAM book only lists 2 varieties. Yours must be VAM-1 because it doesn't look like PEACE is doubled. I think it grades about F-15 to VF20 and has been cleaned. The 1921 Peace has always been one of my favorites. Wish I would have kept the nice AU I bought for $25 back in the early 80's

No good vams for the 21 now I know thanks for your help. I really thought this coin was original. This is making me lose interest in silver dollars.

@Paddy54 Peace Dollars are my nemesis but this coin looks like an earlier dipped coin lightly cleaned with someone layering some dirt on the surfaces. I guess I do not signs of harshly cleaned.
Details look like XF with no luster. So would you think maybe XF Details?
Or am I all wet :) IYO

There are actually many VAMs listed for 1921. Only a couple are worth a premium. I can't tell from the picture which yours is, but it is not VAM 3, which is one of the coins with a premium. Grade looks XF, but it may have been cleaned at one time. It seems there are hairlines on the obverse.
