Am I missing something here?? NGC price guide has it at 135.00 http://www.ebay.com/itm/302280397822?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
A coin is only worth what someone's willing to pay for it and it looks like someone is willing to pay quite a bit.
I may be wrong but I think that the proof sets and the mint sets from the '50s and 60's could be winners, that's why I been buying more of them lately. Check out the '54 S set I snagged (seller's pics).
This is a old article, but I've always wondered what the long term effects on the silver coin market would be, I guess we're finding out, After the Melts.
That particular ebay seller has a strong following from Kennedy collectors, so that may have an impact on him having higher than typical sell prices when more rare pieces come up...
OK...point taken, but to what degree do they want to pay almost twice retail? I do see that one bidder has continued to push it up.
All kind of factors can influence things. Maybe they need a PF 69 '64 Kennedy for a gift and there is a time factor involved? Maybe they just inherited a bunch of money and that's the last hole in their Kennedy set? Who knows....lots of possibilities.
Is it doubled at the I of In God and the L of Liberty or is that an optical illusion? ...welp, that's my guess at why the bid is up at any rate. Personally, I think it's proof coin light-reflection-mirage-thing-ma-bopper and somebody is going to be super bummed when they get it in hand to find out it's not a top pop fs-104.
I am pretty sure @sakata is bidding on this one, That's a gorgeous coin that would deserve a spot in my collection.
No idea why my name came up. I would not be caught dead bidding that much for a common piece of silver with only about $6.60 of silver in it. USA coins don't interest me that much.
