That's the one that is legal to own. Sold for $7,590,020. I want to say 2002, more or less. The winning bidder has never been named. The one thing I know is that I was in the room when it sold.

First a guy named Fenton and, IIRC Jay Perrino, but it sold anonymously. I lost track of who owns it now.

Shortly before the World Trade Center disaster, the coin was moved to Fort Knox for safe storage....It would have been lost in the aftermath if it had remained there.

Ah yes, Fort Knox. Warren Buffet's "another hole" we use to bury gold in and pay people to stand around and guard it.

Seems like wherever that coin ends up it leaves a trail of bad luck...Maybe "His Majesty Farouk" put a hex on it.:nailbiting:

So call me the one who hasn't done the research, How many of these were actually struck? Has Farouk's been Photo'd?
I'd agree that it would be a pleasure to see them at ANA In Denver.
Hey, Kurt can I bring a camera?

Struck? I think it was 445,000. The Fenton/Farouk specimen has been lavishly photographed. The two Smithsonian specimens are nicer than the F/F. Based on what has been written, one of the Langbords may be nicer than the "legal 3".

I sure hope that the Langbords , get credit, when we all get a chance to see them in hand.
Part of me says that it sucks to only be the Keepers of good fortune only to find, you were just stuck with them.

There are posts in some threads that wonder if that one hasn't been swapped out over time.

I don't think so. Some guys know the marks on that one by heart.
