I am not enirely sure what they are. In hand they look like die polish lines...run UNDER the devices. There are a few small marks...Litteraly got it from the scrap bin if you can believe it. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

Looks like obverse only. Be sure to get an opinion in person from someone who knows cameo coinage well.
Truthfully, I would not have it slabbed unless you could piggy back on someone else's ANACS order. Right now they have a silver and gold special for $8.00 a coin, 15 coin minimum. Plus S/H.
I can understand finding it in the bargain box.....and not to knock the coin or you for buying it. One must understand that Franklin half's unless they are top of the mark are a dime a dozen Well struck MS and Camo Proofs only hold a premium . I've been to shows where a person walked in holding a nice black Capital holder filled with nice MS Franklin half's walk to 25 tables and each dealer turn the seller down. Reasons #1 no market for run of the mill nice ms coins. #2 didn't want to offer spot for again two reasons...1 didn't want to insult the owner,#2 really didn't want to carry more Franklin ' s on their inventory . Don't misunderstand I do collect them I have a complete set on unc. ms coins, only need 3 proofs to complete the proofs . And I am very satisfied with my set. But again you're talking moon money for top of the mark. Reason being few and far between on a series that has good mintage's,but lack well struck quality coins.
I appreciate the advice everyone. I wasn't expectine moon money, or the score of the century. I just thought it was a nice grab that i scored for melt, just unexpected. The obverse looks cameo and the reverse image is inconclusive. If it's a one-sided cameo, NGC would give a star designation and ANACS would note "OBV Cameo" on its holder. PCGS makes no distinction for one-sided cameos. Even if both sides are strong enough to warrant a cameo, it likely wouldn't be worth grading unless it PF 67 Cameo or higher (or deep cameo). Two NGC PF 66 Cameos sold for $64 (no CAC) and $70 (with CAC) recently on ebay. PF 67 Cameos have ranged from $100-$160. Ungraded your coin, if cameo, could sell for $15-$35. Note that grading costs are about $15-$25 per coin with NGC (hence why you'd need a 66 cameo just to break even). Study the coin carefully for hairline scratches. Those can really lower the grade and make it not worth the price for grading. Also spots (milk spots, hazing) lower the value. Overall you did really well picking that coin up for melt. Study other graded Franklins (look at some photos and in-hand examples at a show or shop) and get an in-hand opinion before deciding to grade the coin.
I have been looking at it with a loop and i see very little in the way of marks. I definitely think its is atleast 65, but I am far from and expert on franklins. Thanks for the rundown on priceing! I think if you send it to a TPG it would get the details grade even though there are some marks on the obverse

Just got back from the show. Showed it to a couple dealers. Both agreed 65...borderline 66 cam. Decided to hold onto the coin for what was being offered. Nice addition to my collection. Thank you all for the imput and advice! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
