This looks like a 5, or it could be a 4, and if it's an 1805 and a small 5 at that the difference in value is astronomical. I can't tell. All thoughts and opinions appreciated. This is the best photo I have been able to take of it. Also, any suggestions on what kind of lighting might make it more legible? Or? Should I just give up?

    Thanks,

You will just have to decide this one in hand. Not much in the image to go by.

Kind of looks like 1807 to me, but that's just me tweaking the brightness a bit.

The best I can do with adjustments leads me to think it's a Small 6 1806.

I still see a 7. Please excuse my poor Photoshop skills. They are a little rust, but I think in my eye this is what I'm seeing. I could be wrong?

Looks like a 7, but I'm no expert. I think its a 7, at first I thought a 5 d/t the mark or blurred area above what remains of the number. If you combine the two areas you'd have a large number there.

This is what a 7 on an 1807 Half Cent looks like. I'm not seeing it.

Would a pencil rub do any good?

I think it is a 1803 blunt 1 variety. Reverse photo please I am interested to see if it is a small fraction variety
