As I have posted elsewhere on this forum I do not specifically collect US coins, but I have picked up quite a few along the way. I have created a gallery of my 23 Morgan dollars, which range from AG to MS63. I am not even close to being an expert on grading these coins but have tried to make a guess at the grade of each by using the online Photograde tool. I would appreciate any feedback that anyone is willing to offer as to the accuracy of my estimates. https://www.cointalk.com/media/albums/morgans.638/
I think you're on track, maybe a little generous in the lower circ. grades. I would call the 1890 O a vg10 and the 1891 a fine, possibly F15, for example.
Thanks longshot. That is exactly the sort of feedback I was looking for. I just went back and looked at my records and I did have the 1891 as F+, not sure where I miscopied from. But I had the 1890-O as F so that is good feedback.
Most Morgans will faintly show both lines in the cotton balls if they make Fine, maybe l give those lines too much weight but that is the first place I look when grading a circulated morgan.
