So....was off work today and decided to visit a local coin store (initially, just browsing) when i came across some gold! Now, i dont normally collect gold coins (this may change) but the dealer had several '26 Indian head eagles in stock. The date struck me, as it was the year my grandmother was born (26 April 1926) She passed in 2011 at 84. So, i continued looking at the examples, moving them in hand, examining strike, luster, etc. But my eyes kept coming back to the date. I looked a little longer, and chose the most eye appealing one (to me anyways) and told the dealer that he had just sold a coin. Its funny how sometimes things like this make us think of our loved ones, and how this coin had been in the world the exact year she was born. She is here no more (just in our memories and hearts....but by looking at this coin i will remember her always.
