I don't collect paper but I do collect coins. I have a question why can't I find any federal reserve notes print with the year 2000 on it? I have search all denominations . I only thing I can find is prop money with that year.
Because there were no Series 2000 notes printed in the US. Unlike coins. The series date on paper money does not change every year.
Because all US dollars printed in 2000 bear the signatures of Withrow-Summers? You need to know what range of serial numbers were printed that year to know what was printed that year. Most, if not all (minus the $2), say "series 1999."
As @lettow already mentioned, the series date doesn't change annually like coins. Series date changes when there is a significant enough design change. I believe the closest dates to 2000 on FRN's was 1999 ($1) and 2001 ($5). None of the denominations had 2000.
Thanks you for your help and prop money is what they use in the movies. https://www.etsy.com/listing/214875...2hsmC82S55ChtIaZXtkqyMw-qb9TE7w-RcaAiCz8P8HAQ
Ha.. I have never seen that. So everytime they blow up money in a movie scene they are actually fake? I've been decieved!
No. Sometimes real money is used. In the old movies they always used stage money. There is a scene in Goodfellas where Tommy opens up a bag of Henrys coke money and we see a bunch of 20's that look real. But closer examination shows them to be phony. But real money has been used.
