I bought some time ago this Alexandria AE with a lovely reverse, but cannot identify the emperor's portrait on the obverse. Any suggestion would be welcome.
Definitely Diocletian. Potin tetradrachm, CE 284/5 Obv: the legend, if fully visible, would be AKΓOVAΛΔIOKΛHTIANOCCEB; bust right Rev: Eusebia standing left; altar; LA in left field (year 1) Ref: Emmett 4052.1
Yep, Diocletian. Here's one from my collection for comparison. Minted AD 285-286 19 mm, 7.2 gm Obv: Α Κ Γ ΟVΑΛ ΔΙΟΚΛΗΤΙΑΝΟC CΕΒ, Laureate, cuirassed bust, r. Rev: Athena seated l., on shield, holding wreath bearing Nike and scepter; LB (year 2). Refs: Dattari 5638; BMC 2485; RCV 12856; Cologne 3211
