"I was just thinking and not saying jintoh44 is a counterfeiter, but think about it....".

Not cool, is it? You're welcome to think whatever you please, but there are ways to get your point across without directly insulting or potentially muddying new members. I do not believe this was your intention, but casting aspersions is exactly what you did.

You should not have posted that. I have already advised him to edit his place of employment out. I recommend you also edit your post.

    Edited.

I stand corrected, anonymous perceived insults over the internet to burn.
I did apologize to OP if he took it the wrong way.

In this case the internet is actually a small forum, populated largely by regulars. The point was both reasonable and valid, sir.

    Wow. Scary bad.

By the picture, I wouldn't have given it a second glance. Perhaps in-hand I would have caught it.

    Very deceptive fake.

For me it was the cheek, its too flawless. Had they scuffed it up a bit I would have said nice find.

Hi everyone... It's late afternoon and I'm just reading through this thread... My first reaction to the pics. were that for a coin with relatively few bag marks and lack of wear, it should have a bit more luster and sharpness in the detail for the date. That coupled with the low price gave me a first impression of being fake. As compared to others of the same, I confirmed my feeling for this coin as having a very deceptive look to it and therefore very questionable authenticity. The weight says it all, but I see many others here seem to have the same opinion about it as myself. It's a very well- made counterfeit coin. If they had gotten the weight right, it would probably have passed as genuine, and only be found out by a good grading service. Makes me wonder if there are a bunch of these out there!

Mark, I just finished perusing this thread and first welcome to CT...going back to the 5th or 6th post from yesterday, there is something about the rim of this coin that just did not set right with me...look at the north edge vs the south...and I am certainly not an expert.

I had purchased some items from a german ebayer. The seller had good feedback etc. When, on another occasion, I recognized the seller, I bought again. The item came from China and was clearly counterfeit. I got an email from the person in Germany apologizing. Their account was stolen and item listed and sold before it was found out. One never knows when dealing on Ebay.

Would love to have it in hand for a minute. I stared and stared at the pics and just couldn't shake a niggling doubt about the coin but could hardly say why. Fakes like this damage the hobby, I hope it doesn't scare the original poster away from coins.

 I was looking at vam pickups immediately after looking the date over. I noticed doubling on the reverse which is common for 8tf issues. So i didnt really scrutinize the coin, although i did pickup on the lack of any mint frost which, made me suspect it was cleaned. This is one of those coins that we can all learn from because obviously its a pretty decent counterfeit compared to your average, viewing it online that is. Not sure how obvious it would be in-hand but any good vammer is gonna figure it out w/in a few minutes im guessing.

i have this coin but it has a few marks on it had it graded pcg .My first impression of this morgan is there are no marks on it but yet it shows what looks like wear on the high points.Makes me wonder if its to good to be true.First i would get a weight on it .For what you paid hor the coin..I am thinking fake but with the condition i see if real is a better than what i have been seeing for the price on ebav auctions. If you think its real i would have it certfied

I had the same thoughts as you can see but the weight is a death knell. Its counterfeit.

This is vindicating my caveat on buying raw coins unseen, if one isn't familiar with the series. The pictures of that coin had me thinking genuine, and I really do know Morgans. In hand probably would have been a different story, but it was obviously a very good fake, as it had many experienced collectors here wondering if it were real. The weight makes it rather obviously fake.

As good as the counterfeiters are getting they still have not been able to replicate cartwheel lustre.
