This is a awsome Gordian III, bright and having a hard time getting an accurate photo. My photographing skills are not the best either but I like to hope I'm improving. Here's another retake.
Welcome acollin892, that's is one very nice Gordian III, looking forward to seeing some other coins from you.
There are some really nice denarii of Gordian in this thread! I have no silver Gordians to show; but it is OK to show our bronze Gordians, yes? I have this sestertius of Gordian, with Sol on the reverse. I found this coin back in 1990 or so, and it took me about a week to find out who the dude was. Gordian III (238-244). Æ Sestertius, Rome, 240-3. Obv: Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust r. Rev: Sol standing l., raising hand and holding globe. RIC IV 297a
Of course it's ok. Bronze Gordian III are still Gordian III coins, are they not? My only sestertius of his, a Securitas reverse.
OK then, here's my Gordy sestertius with just the begining of a mustache growing on the young emperor's face Gordian III, Sestertius minted in Rome, AD 241/243 IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, laureate and draped bust right, seen from behind IOVI STATORI, Jupiter standing, looking right, holding thuderbolt and sceptre. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I look forward to sharing more and enjoying the beautiful coins that you all have
