    Hello!
I am currently trying to figure out what my coins are worth. I have two sets but I will just upload the first set. I took front and back photos and a photo of all fronts and a photo of all backs.
    Thank you for your time!

They came out of a back of old coins from my grandmother and trying to figure out if these are real (like you said there are fakes out there) and how to figure that out. I have another set of 4 but they are 1906, 1881, 1885, 1795. thank you again

I may be wrong but looking at the pictures provided I would say all are fake.

The 1797 and 1817 dated coins are fake. They are not even close to the date ranges of US Trade trade dollars as Clawcoins pointed out. The two 1872 coins have the design of a US Pattern Trade dollar. I'm not familiar with the specific characteristics of these patterns, but they scream Fake as well.

I think there are some older threads on Coin Talk that discuss the 1872 fakes (I'm to lazy to search for them now :))

Not "fake" but "fantasy" pieces by the generally accepted definition on this forum. They're also "fine art", which is oddly now defined by nothing more than simply changing the date while exactly copying all other design elements of known coins. The choice of planchet material though, this makes all the difference, and unfortunately, because yours were likely made with pot metal instead of junk coins, this renders them of little value. They're cool nonetheless, and if there indeed is a family connection, please consider keeping them because of it.

    doug444 STAMPS and POSTCARDS too!

If the OP belonged to a coin club, those pieces could illustrate an interesting talk. Many infrequent visitors are blissfully unaware of what's going on in the marketplace.

If you have a magnet handy, see if they are magnetic. Many fakes are.

Thank you for the input. This is the other four I have. When I get home I will most definitely try the magnet test.
