Let's have a little holiday fun!

    1. What is on your Wish List (numismatically speaking) for this Christmas?

    2. Are you buying anything numismatic for someone else for Christmas?

    ******************************
    I'll start...

    1. I asked mostly for supplies as I didn't think my husband knew enough about coins to pick out something that would pass muster with me :) I'm hoping for a few sets of Coin World holders, a new loupe, and a caliper. Too late now but I should have added a Breen's Encyclopedia to that list.

    2. This Chrsitmas Joe will be receiving a couple of triangle coins. Anyone who's been patient enough to listen about me ramble on about my little guy knows that he's crazy for anything odd or shaped differently. There will be a coin from Bermuda and one from the Cook Islands stashed in his stocking come Christmas morning.

I only have one family member who ever asks me what I want for Christmas.
I told her (my wife) that I had everything that I wanted, and that rather than buying me something, she should take the money and use it to help a child who has nothing. (I know, it sounds corny and insincere, but I was being honest.)

I don't have to. My gift comes from my personal collection.
Hope you enjoy it, my friend. ;)

Aww Jody...aren't you a doll?! There are too few people that have the thoughtfulness and generous spirit that you so obviously posess. You have so eloquently reminded us all what the holiday season is about.

I can't wait to see what goody you have kindly parted with to find a new home with with Joe and I. I'm sure I'll love it!

I would like an annulet issue king Henry VI penny (1422) in VF condition of London mint. I found one decently priced but it had a slight chip and a bit of verdigris, so i'll have to keep looking. My family don't buy me anything numismatic for Christmas they buy other things, CD players, TVs and whatnot. Personally i'd settle for a box of mince pies, suit me right down to the ground that would.

As for giving someone else something numismatic for Christmas, well it's less for Christmas (well i haven't posted it yet and it's got to go all the way across the Atlantic), but she's helped me out over the past few weeks and been a good friend and thus i'm throwing here a King John penny in the mail (struck around 1200) free of charge.

It's not often i give stuff out, but when i do i try my best with what i have.

Unfortunately my wife isn't too enthusiastic about my new hobby. Okay, she hates it. I'm going to buy myself a mint state CC Morgan dollar.

I put a gift together to get my eleven year old nephew started in the hobby.
2005 Red Book for US Coins
    a couple of coin magazines
    Whitman folder for Mercury Dimes
    30+ unique Mercury dimes
    Whitman folders for Lincoln Cents
sample of US half dollars - Barber, Walking LIberty, Franklin, Kennedy
sample of US quarters - Standing Liberty, Barber, Washington
sample of US dimes - Barder, Mercury, Roosevelt
    Uncirculated 1964 Roosevelt Dime set (P, D, S)
    2 Morgan dollars (1878 and 1921)
several circulated US and foreign coins from mid-1800's to mid-1900's
    a 10x loupe

nesvt...That is a GREAT gift for your nephew!! You are an awesome uncle.

I think it would be wonderful if everyone who posts here would have a New Year's resolution to get at least one youngster hooked this year. The YN's are the future of our great hobby. I know for myself that every time I see the unbridled excitement that Joe has when we go to a show or when some kind person sends him a new goody in the mail (you know who you are ;) ), it only serves to reignite the excitement in myself. It is a beautiful circle and one that I feel blessed to be a part of.

    1. What is on your Wish List (numismatically speaking) for this Christmas?

Well, what I really would like to have, numismatically speaking, is GD's world gold coin collection and since this is the season of giving...

    2. Are you buying anything numismatic for someone else for Christmas?

Well not really for that would be kind of being materialistic and after all it isn't the thing to do now what I really want is GD's world gold coin collection. I think it will be really non materialistic and swell if.........

What I would honestly like for Christmas is for each one of the members here to share a "coin" or "the hobby" with a new person. Share the good things that make our little hobby the best in the world.

And of course, world peace :D

Ah, Highlander are you a D.H. Lawrence fan by chance.

"You know Andy you should have offered to do a trade in number 2) your collection, for his!"
Slyvester, that is a great idea, now if I could only get GD to think so but alas, I'm afraid that GD knows how to think and will not think much of what we think in regards to this thinking thing that we think.
