Wow, fabulous scores, @Quant.Geek! I'm usually more keen on the Alexandrian drachms, but that Gallienus is especially impressive. Between yours and TIF's, I'm jealous! I missed most of the live action, which was unfortunate for me because looking at the realized prices in this section, I feel some actually closed on the low side. I certainly would have sent that Saturn in Capricorn drachm up a few more increments! My pre-bids saw me winning two group lots, but I have no pictures to show for them and will just have to wait a few weeks to see how my gambles paid off .
I am visiting in the land of spotty Internet WiFi connections and have not seen the results. There was one lot that had three illustrated coins, all terrible condition and all the only known of their type. I decided not to bid since I am not the one to be doing a serious study and the unillustrated lots must have been really bad. I hope they went to someone who will appreciate them. Dattari bought coin by the ton and cataloged what he could. I'd love to see what was in those back of book lots. I can't upload photos from here (remember the days of the 14.4 modem?) but showed mine before. I do look forward to seeing the ex-Gemini lots each of you won.
There is something really cool about the Roman-Egyptian connection. This rough Nero has been through the wringer.
Quant.Geek => wow, congrats on that super sweet OP Alexandrian Gallienus!! (it's a total beauty!!) Ummm, I happen to also have a pretty cool example of a Gallienus & Eagle ... Gallienus AE Tetradrachm (Alexandria)
Those OP coins rock!! Congrats on two very nice Alexandrian coins Quant.Geek! I have been looking for as nice as yours for quite a while now. Would love to have as nice of an example as yours.
