Dumped some searched halves at a local bank that has a free counter. Checked the reject tray while it was counting and found 2 dimes - one a silver '62! Wally
Believe it or not, I've had better luck finding silver dimes by checking the reject bin of the coinstar in my local dominick's everytime I pass by it than I have had in searching some $1000 in dimes this year.
Seriously, a question. I search Rosy rolls for recent stuff. I've never, ever found a silver one. I really don't want to start a new thread, but do you guys really ever find silver rosy's??????? My goodness gracious, I've gone through 5 years of pocket change and about 2 rolls of dimes each weak for the past 2 years and I have NEVER found a silver dime. To be honest, I've never found a canadian dime either.
I've only found a few silver Rosies in circulation since I started collecting in 1977. Although I've never roll searched dimes, I guess the possibility is there for silver.
It's unique for each machine. You just have to look for it (usually a coin return slot). To date, I've found 4 silver Roosevelts. No Mercuries. I know they are out there the same as the silver halves, just more diluted and harder to find due to the increased circulation and increased production of new dimes. The only setback for finding silver dimes is that high tech change counters will filter the silver out. Fortunately, there are still a lot of low tech counters out there.
I searched about 15 gallons of change and came up with 1 1964 quarter, 1 1962 dime and 1 1945 war nickel... several wheat pennies too... i started saving the pre 82 (82-D also) copper pennies also... have a 1pint jar full of them the 1964 quarter was literally in the last handful of the change in a 10gallon pickle jar... I was pleasantly suprised!
I remember finding 1 or 2 and not thinking they were important enough to save at first... but I did save a 1941 nickel.... also a shiney 2003 ghost cent, and 2005(3?) ghost dime
