Thinking About Submitting Some of my U.S Coins for Grading: If I do, what can I expect on this one?

The bulk, greater than 90 % of my U.S coin collection is raw, just as I bought them
    15-30 years go.

I have been thinking about submitting some of them to either NGC or PCGS.
Both are now active in Europe so this is now feasible.

In your opinions, what can I expect on this one: grade / comments.

Flowing Hair Dollar, variety B-5, the 'bar' variety, R-1.
    tiny pit back of head.

    Thank you for your opinions!

    No need to be sarcastic/non-constructive.

If I am asking it's for a good reason.

How ironic, the man who literally wrote the book on slabs, secretly hates slabs and everything they stand for. Sorta like if the green giant hated vegetables:vomit: home-discover.jpg

If I was grading it I'd put it at VF20, but that's not your question. Would I be surprised if a TPG gave it a 30 ? Not in the least.

VF-30. There are some remnants of luster left in the protected areas of the devices.

I'm going to agree with your opinion. TPG's tend to be a little more liberal with 18th century American coinage IMHO.

But I like the coin and it has nice eye appeal.

I like the coin, but I think it has a chance of coming back in a details holder as "cleaned". Maybe it's just the photography but the surfaces have a once-polished look to me. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Even if it is a "details" coin, it's one that would still benefit from TPG grading if you're concerned about selling it, or eventual sale by your heirs.

    VF30 or perhaps VF35.

I am thinking cleaned too but they give a little slack on these. It all depends on if it has a market acceptable appearance.

    Cleaned and maybe polished (lightly).

    I'd guess it at vf25.

I think VF30; the obv die had a very deeply impressed Liberty head so the relief on the coin was high leading to more rapid wear of the hair details.

I see the same thing, but if it the surfaces are deemed market-acceptable, it'll be net graded down a notch rather than put in a details holder. VF25.
