As I already stated, if the price is too much or the grade not consensual I walk. The game is the best part for me.

This is the first I'm hearing of an S mint 2017 ASE, I follow but I guess not close enough. Others mention that it will also be released with the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set which I plan on buying,so I'll wait and see.
They probably wanted response the gold mercury dime got a year or so ago,on day it was released only hours later it was unavailable because it was listed as Sold Out.
BTW is anyone else disappointed in The Mint's 225 Anniversary Coin, I actually watched the live podcast from mint on day of unveiling and thought it would be some cool hallmark type coin and well I was not enthused. I guess I'll save my money and buy The 50th Gold Kennedy Coin I've wanted instead.

    I prefer OGP too.
I really don't like slabbed coins at all. It offers no value to me unless it's a highly specialized coin of which I wouldn't want a fake, such as early 1800s or so coinage.

I have last years Congratulations and it's not an expensive package, but it's still the OGP which I prefer. I also have the Limited Set. I do take the coins in their airtites out of the packages and identify them as which OGP they came from. This gives me more room in my SDB without the boxes.

I would expect nothing less coming from a government scab :p

I'm ripping mine out to put in the album. Simple.

Come to think of it, I'm not a fan especially of the cardboard and capsule stuff. It's the wanton loss of endangered velours for the fur-covered hinge cases in boxes that makes me want to honor their sacrifice.

I agree, on some coins but not for the special releases, like this s mint mark silver eagle proof. I need to keep up my silver eagle pf70 set. But i really don't care to have each of the OGP.

There are a segment of collectors that want one from every package offering, but that segment is much smaller than the ones who just want one and don't care what packing it came from since it wasn't any sort of special ASE set. I would expect further releases to relieve some of the pressure on these

I'm hoping so. I still want the 2017 Congrats to go with my 2016 one but I'm not going to pay nearly a 2x price they're selling for right now in the aftermarket.
I still plan on buying the limited edition set too.

I might go ahead and bite the bullet then and snag one if you actually want the OGP presentation. I expect a large number of them will be graded or removed from the OPG for the coin alone. That's a bit of a harder call and not sure what I would do in that instance in all honesty

So I guess the multiple coins I have coming are going to allow me to retire soon in the South of France? I know better!

You might need to settle for Northern France. Even Alsace can be nice.

Yeah, I'll give 'ya $50 for one set LOL .. yeah .. lower than mint price huh ?

    hahaha

Looking at SOLD listings look like a bunch went for $64.99 .. someone wasn't too greedy.

I'm actually looking at filing in my Limited Edition Proof Set collection instead. It's cheaper to buy one of those sets than the 2017 Congratulations right now. Then hope the 2017 Congrats goes down in price over time .. hoping ppl don't buy it online at the high prices being offered right now.

The one that just sold out for $65? If those were eBay sales those sellers actually lost money in the process.

The 2017-s would be the 3rd lowest, two of the eagles in the 2011 set were the 2nd lowest at just under 100k (due to returns). If they do actually issue only 125k, the value should in the neighborhood of the 2011 eagles.

Their own fault for setting the price to low

I saw that, I think he sold 20 to one person. What the heck were they thinking?

So, what do y'all think of the current selling price? I think, if they hold to 125k total, it's selling for less than half its value - if they make 250k, it's about the right value. I'm basing my valuation on prior issues.
