Tried searching for an answer but came up empty handed. I'm aware 95% of people would not do this even if they were supposed to but...should you notify TPGs when you crack a coin out of their slab so they can update it on their end? I have a batch heading to NGC soon and I'm including a coin I'm going to crack out of a horribly scratched and beat up PCGS holder. Was just wondering if its proper etiquette, for lack of a better word, to notify PCGS for their records?
Ideally, yes... had everyone done so, perhaps a majority of pop numbers would actually mean something, but overall, probably not, and is because the numbers are already crap. With select low pop coins though, the owners would be wise to still do so.
Thanks. Do you just email them a picture with the bar code or mail it in? I'm a believer in a little is better than nothing. Even if again 95% of people aren't doing it, it's easy enough for myself to do my part.
They used to offer a "reward" of like fifty cents or something for every tag turned in. If still the practice of not I do not know, but I'm guessing they'd still want them physically sent in.
... and on the bright side, if the "bounty" is still paid, after the $0.49 for a stamp, he'll end up a whopping cent in the black for his good deeds!
