I got another FH the other day :) An unlisted variant, I think, of a rare type (according to RIC). It has a really nice solid patina with blotches of silvering.

D N CONSTAN-TIVS P F AVG, pearl diademed, draped & cuirassed right/ FEL TEMP R-EPARATIO, soldier standing left, spearing a fallen horseman wearing a Phrygian helmet, reaching back , Gamma left
    CONSA Star in ex
    RIC 82? Var.

    That's a superb example!!

Terrific details and I LOVE that patina!

Since my 'horseman' is still unphotographed....I'll throw in one of his brothers--Constantius II and the 'Emperor on a boat reverse':

Constantius II, 337-361. Thessalonica, circa AD 348-351
    Follis, Æ
D N CONSTAN-TIVS P F AVG, diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right / FEL TEMP REPARATIO, emperor in military dress standing left on galley, holding phoenix on globe and a standard with Chi-Rho in the banner; Victory at helm steers the ship. TESA in ex.

You should tell us all what it is about the coin that makes it stand out from the common coins of that mint and type.

Yeah I should have included that on the original post.

The spacing on the reverse FEL TEMP REPARATIO. The more common issues have the spacing between the P and the R. FEL TEMP-REPARATIO. Mine is spaced between the R and E. FEL TEMP R-EPARATIO.

This is the common variation with E-P split. Mine is officina 11 rather than 1. I do not know if Randy's variation come in all workshops or not. I'm not much into legend splits. I bought mine for the soldier's boots. We are all strange in our on special ways.

I was going to say your not strange since I almost got that coin, but no your right, we're strange :) I've seen those boots on a few (very few) other FTR from Constantinople.

    Nice!
Thats the more common legend break, but i guess that field mark on yours make it more rare according to the RIC spread sheet.

I don't need to make another topic for this one. A cheap lil phoenix FTR, rough, with glossy green patina. I got this mainly because I liked the way the Phoenix looked, looks more like a dove. Though not as cool as a old sear cert, it did come in an old Seaby flip reportedly pre 1971. I could only find this listed as "standing on globe" so I guess another variant? Also, this completes my FTR set 4 fromTrier, since there isn't a captives issue.

I hastily wrote that post and have to add a correction.

    I meant FEL TEMP RE-PARATIO

Sorry was a long day at work

    Thanks for the correction Doug

My Constantinople RIC 81 (clutching) has the scarcer R-E legend break.

    Minted in Constantinople (Gamma | _ //CONSA*). A.D. 348-351

My Constantinople RIC 82 (reaching) has the more usual RE-P legend break

    Great coins Martin!

Martin's pair are a great illustration of the matter of the dots on the reverse. His FH4 RIC 109 has a dot under the arm of the soldier that is cataloged correctly since it was part of the design.
However his FH3 RIC 82 has a dot dead center down by the horse's rear which is from the compass used to lay out the coin and is not listed in the catalogs. It almost looks like part of the tail but it is a centration dot. We have mentioned this here before but these coins show the situation very nicely.
Both are great coins! Mine below is an RIC 106 FH4 with dot but no delta on obverse. These are the differences that allow you to get 2200 different FH coins.
