Did you know there are three varieties of 1922 Peace Dollars?

I've been looking for the photo evidence for quite a while.

Finally, here's photos of the three varieties of the 1922 Philadelphia Peace Dollar Proofs, courtesy of Coin Facts:

    Anyone own all three?

Anyone own even one of them?

    Which one?

Sadly, I do not own any of the Proofs! However, I have a 1922-P Peace Dollar with a Satin Finish which I am almost certain that accidentally went through the acid bath with a batch of Satin Proofs. The coin is BU and looks identical to a Satin Proof but doesn't have as strong of a strike. You can also see the Mint luster showing through the dull finish created by the acid bath which is exactly the same appearance as the Satin Proofs.

    Clinker,

I took pictures of the coin last night but the file sizes are too big to post in the forums! I will have to wait until the Gallery is back up and working to post pictures, then link them to this Thread.

I wish i had one for my peace dollar collection, I've never even seen one in real life let alone for sale in a price range that I could afford.

    Doug,

Thanks for the info! I have never used Photobucket before but hopefully everyone will be able to view the pictures of my 1922-P Peace Dollar. I am sorry about the quality of the pictures as the poor lighting makes it look brownish while it is actually more of a grayish color!

I was told by a couple of folks that it had been cleaned with a harsh cleaner and that is what gave it the Satin Finish! However, as you can see from the pictures, there is no evidence that the coin has been cleaned and especially not cleaned with a harsh cleaner!. The coin was purchased by a Coin Dealer/Friend of mine along with about 39 more Peace Dollars from a Coin Dealer at the Baltimore Coin Show. The Coin Dealer advised my friend that they (the bag of Peace Dollars) came out of an old Estate in Philadelphia. Since there is a chance that it could be a Low Relief Satin Proof, I really need to get off of my butt and send the coin to PCGS or NGC to see if it might actually be a Low Relief Satin Proof. Let me know what you all think!

Some of the coins I need for my collection will have to be purchased on the lay-a-way plan
