That die crack from the tip of the bust though the date is associated with either the 19.2 or the 19.3 RPD on the 83 NC V nickels.
There's also the same die crack in the date on the 83 Cents V nickel.

1987 P & D still in mint cello. The P mint is really nice, looks full steps. The D mint not so nice.

Picked this 15 D Buffalo up at the Baltimore show . Would of prefer a higher Au - Ms coin but for the price paid and the honest wear this will fit the bill until a higher grade is found.

A few years back, I was hunting for a 1942 P Ty II proof Jefferson and found this listed not as a proof, but regular wartime silver nickel.
Thinking it might be a proof I jumped on it and won it on eBay.

Looking back, I kind of wish it was a regular Jefferson intended for circulation afterall. I think it might grade MS67 6 full steps.
The numismedia value for a 1942 P Type II MS67 full step Jefferson nickel far exceeds the value of the proof 67.
Either way, I am very happy to have it as one of my favorites in my collection.

The general consensus is that it is a proof that I cherry picked. I never did get it slabbed. I'm still not really sure?

Here's some pics. That area on the left of the bottom step does make it all the way across but the pics don't show as well as it appears in hand.

Well if I had this one in hand I would be checking it for a ddo.;)
Some of the reverse lettering looks to be or have some splits....

Maybe a nice proof will sway you?

I'd attest to that but, looks like it could be the lighting, on UST.

1931-S may be a scarce date in Lincoln cents, but that may be due to producing lots of nickels instead.
