What do you think this coin grades???

It's definately a Fine IMHO, but is VF pushing it too far? I've seen similar coins in VF holders from each grading service but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Also, I've compared it the PCGS guide, photgrade, and others can't really decide.

Of course, I'd really be happy if this was VF material.

Trying to hone my grading skills, I would say the obverse would grade a high Fine ( F18 in points) and the reverse would grade a fine (F12 in points) due to the wear on the left wing.

    It's an F-12.

After comparing, I would still say it is FINE, but grade is in the eye of the beholder, much like beauty!!

    Well I'd say it's a F-15 but since it's a better date PCGS might grade it VF-20  ;)

Sometimes I think PCGS gives the better date coins a better grade.

    For whatever it's worth - I say VF20.

Do you know which VAM it is (or do you care)? The date is set far, like the VAM 3, but the CC mint mark is set like the VAM 2. Even the 9 looks a little high (like the VAM 2).
    Nice coin!

The mint mark is definately set to the right, so I'm calling it VAM-2. This one will go to ANACS. I wasn't going to have the VAM attributed, but what the heck. I'm expecting F15. I will be pleasantly surprised with VF20 and will be a little bit dissapointed with F12. Regardless, its still the same coin, which I think is important to remember.

I'm with you, I would say it is a F15. But I would expect a F12, that way I would be pleased when I saw the 15. I don't know what kind of days coin graders have, (can't be as bad as a factory worker!!) but I would think that they would have to be having a good day to give it a VF grade.
