What would you grade it and value it? Verdigris on the reverse.

    I grade it a VG.

I grade it 8i, an imaginary number, because it's invisible.

This coin is interesting because my brother found it in his change at Burger King I think.

    Poof! It appears! :)

That's a lot more than VG detail, but there's something about the look of it I don't like, even ignoring the gunk. I'd have a little concern about whether it's genuine, but I'd certainly grab it at face value. I'd also soak it in distilled water, then acetone, and see what it looks like afterward.

Looks like a VF with some corrosion.

BTW, do nickels suffer from verdigris?

I believe it is 75% copper.

Given, but do "nickels" suffer from verdigris? Perhaps @BadThad could comment if this coin could benefit from VerdiCare.

Those Burger King finds certainly are more interesting than those coming from McDonald's, I agree.... ;)

What would you grade it Treashunt? I got it at VF details. I doubt it is unauthentic, floating around in change.

The absolutely do get verdigris due to the copper in the alloy. In my experience, the verdigris found on nickels is VERY tough and difficult to remove. The last time I worked on one it took a few days of soaking in VC and some pretty rough rubbing with a toothpick to get 90% of it removed. I have to admit though, I've only conserved 2 or 4 nickels in my life since I don't collect them.

    I believe it is real.
