Hey guys, figured since I would be spending a good bit of my time in the error portion of this forum, I would make my first post here.

I was very big into collecting errors until around 1998 when I gave the hobby up for (of all things) women. Since then, I have had nothing but trouble with the women (haha) and decided to go back to my old hobby as I missed it greatly.

Started yesterday and just plundered through about 6.50 worth of pocket change. Nothing to write home about, however, I did find a VERY VERY nice example of a shelf doubled 2000P Maryland state quarter.

I would say it HAS to be the best shelf doubling example I have ever seen.

On "Maryland" "The Old Line State" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" the shelf is completely uniform and can easily be seen with the naked eye. Think 1955 double die lincoln cent and that's what the back of this coin looks like though, unfortunatly, a flat shelf like shadow double.

However, since it was the first coin of the lot that I checked out, It has renewed my interest in the search fully and I plan on jumping back in full force.

May not be worth anything to anyone else, but it's invaluable to me and truly is a PERFECT example of machine/shelf doubling.

Wish I had a camera to show you guys haha, perhaps I will be able to soon.

Picking up some mixed rolls tomorrow. (lincoln cents, kennedy halves, new pres dollars, jefferson nickels)

    Enjoy the hunt,
    Jasn

Welcome to the forum Jason! Nice find on the quarter! I don't care if coins are shelf doubeled, they still look cool.

    thanx for the welcome cody.

Minor shelf doubling isn't that important to me. But MAJOR shelf doubling like on this coin fascinates me.

The doubling is as "bad" if not "worse" than on the '55 obverse lincoln double die. It almost makes your eyes hurt haha.

Hopefully, I can get a pic up soon. Just wish it was a higher grade. Would say AU-50. If it were uncirc'ed I would def. have this one slabbed just for the sake of my collection haha.

Jasn (by the way, no "O' haha )

If you gave up the woman to get back into coins you should be able to afford a camera now. LOL
Looking forward to some nice pictures in the near future.

Now that you've given up women for coins, does that make you a numismosexual?

Haven't exactly given up women for coins. I'm currently married and seperated (don't ask as I have no idea why) and QUITE frustrated with women at this point.

    Numismosexual? Not yet. :)
