Will being new at this I took the advice from a couple you guys and I appreciate it I went and bought some books but I have a 1983 Lincoln penny that has no f and g and everything I find on the 83 from my understanding says that there's no F that there is a g that you can see clearly on this one there is no G at all so once again I'm here asking you experts I appreciate it thank you PS I hope I cropped this right
The strike is so weak that Lincoln is missing too. Is the coin uniformly thick? Is the strike equally weak around the date?
I have some 60s, 70s and 80s LMCs that appear to be missing "FG" as well, but under proper magnification they are faintly visible. This is caused by a weak strike or a worn die and is not recognized as a mint error. I believe the only issue that has the "FG" completely omitted is the 69-D.
