What grade do you think this is? Is it a proof?

Carl B. Waltz Jr. wrote an indispensable book on the subject; 'A Study of Matte Proof Lincoln Cents : 1909 to 1916'

It is a bit harder to find then Kevin Flynn's book but worth locating. With those two books, you will be well armed to ID MPLs when you need to. Kevin's book has great stats and the useful history as well as diagnostics. Carl's book has highly detailed photographs. Those images show coins from of all the different dies as well as early, middle and late die states.

If you are serious about collecting matte proof Lincoln cents, IMHO you really ought to have both of these.

It wouldn't hurt to get a copy of Leonard Albrecht's publication "Matte Proof Lincoln Cents 1909-1917" from 1983. That is if you can find it. They used to be available on eBay for $10.

I have the 1909 a man and lady just through it down on the table like it was the rest of the change. People should look only takes a second. If you read enough you know key dates. I've got 2 1969 DBl. Obverse and a poor mans 1955 but it's pretty good.
I think your penny beats mine and if anybody sees Some of the Canadian Predator series coins them baby's are gonna go fast

Canadian and Perth mint are going to run everything but we are making money it's a real pain sometimes but .9999 & .99999 pure silver and gold.
Canada went down and bought the mint in Mexico & mines.
They said Mexico had hardly broke the ground there was plenty of precious metals. It's still looks like the silver bugs and gold are going to come out looking good people have to put money back. $20 a week will buy 1 Troy ounce of ultra fine silver and gold.
