Supposedly loomis has a deal where you can set up an account and they will pick your bags up take them to center weigh and deposit into the account you set up. I asked my CU she said had never heard of it.
Sorry, I am in the process of setting up a business, and was at the site all morning. Yes, we were pulling anywhere from 20-24 boxes a week. But, basically it was having working capital of $5-$6k that we kept turning over 2x/week. We would had done more, but we had some many bank resources available to do this. Plus, they could be a bit "hefty" carrying all the time. I figured we moved an average of $11k/week, 50 weeks or $550 for the year, all with $5-6k capital. LOL, lotta carrying, and a lot of "relationship" over a few banks. We would buy at two banks, having standing orders with their currency supplier. Then "dump" at another branch. The dump was one bank. They evolved how they wanted to receive the coins over time, as their internal auditors would change the rules. However, we would cheerfully accommodate what they wanted. (Plastic bank bags (we purchased bulk on-line), marking the bags, when to buy/dump, we had a cart, surprises/treats, etc. etc.)
Just wondering if you treated everyone at dump bank or say manager? I got in trouble at my buy bank cause the manager was not there one day and I gave the girl that helps me alot that I went to school with a small bag of Dunkin coffee , The next week when I picked up I gave the manager a large bag and asked her to share with girls at bank. WELL You can guess what the next question was. LOL Why do I have to share the other girl took hers home.
Please don't mark the coins if you crh! There is always someone out there hunting for something else other than silver. (Not directly pointed in your direction bman) I cringe when I see a mark on a coin that has/had other value and has been defaced.
Same... I hate to use acetone (or the like on a coin to un-deface it)... Over the past few months, I have done very well selling NIFCs on eBay (part of the reason I haven't been here much at all this year). There are lots of dates and mint marks out there in high demand.
I had one main dump bank for several months... then one day the manager pulled me aside and told me I was dumping too much there... So, I have improvised. I now have around seven different banks I dump at, and I kind of rotate them and don't overwhelm any one branch. I'm fortunate to live in a highly populated area, so it doesn't cost much in gas when I dump... in addition, I pick up coins at other banks which are near the dump banks so that my trips are more efficient. I have branch where I take a box of halves (and sometimes a box of nickels a week)... we unwrap the rolls and dump them in a bag (takes about 10 minutes) - I try to go when it's a slow time... I usually dump between $75 and $150 at the other banks in my rotation per week).
I can't stand marked coins, it'a sacrilege! I hate it when I get a dump box with dates written all over it. I would never do it.
I complained about them on another forum several months ago, and someone actually started using MY id from said forum and started putting it on halves! I found two such halves with my ID in writing that doesn't even REMOTELY look like mine within about a month of my complaint. The really sad thing is the mods on that forum are idiots. I only used that id on that one forum, so the ONLY place the person marking the halves with my id could have come from was that forum. And instead of trying to find out who the guilty party was, the mods made me out to be the bad guy. Stupid.
Yup. I had the proof right there... even showed them a scanned picture of the coin. I decided to leave that forum then and there. Not worth it to deal with losers who would rather try and mock someone for their opinion, rather than having an open discussion about it. Kind of creepy that someone would go to that length to harass someone they've never met in person.
Everybody has an opinion. Even when you have the same outcome you will have different opinions on how to get there. I'm not going to change my opinion on marking coins and the guy who marks them isn't going to change his. Speak your piece. Let him know you think it's bad, they'll let you know they think you're dumb and life goes on. Until it's illegal and you get arrested for it, which will never happen, nothing changes. They don't need to attack by putting your initials on a coin because you don't think they should mark coins.
Well, a while back I returned about maybe $250? They later sent out a message saying that they only accept coins back if they are wrapped, I dont have time for that. That was a huge blow in my coin roll hunting. I recommend giving them back in like $50 increments. -SC
