I received these 2 coins today in change at the gas station and was wondering if anyone knew why the one on the left looks like it's part silver and copper, i really don't know anything about coins so it could be nothing, was just curious. I also noticed that the coin on the left is thinner than a regular quarter and makes a different sound to it when dropped
Looks to me like a bad case of Environmental Damage I metal detect and have found plenty of 1965 Quarters that look like your 2. The soil, sand and dirt will do that 1964 was the last year Quarters were made with silver. Starting 1965 they were Clad with a Copper core.
