Claudius senior serving as a general in the Roman army, the favorite (adopted) son of emperor Augustus, fell of his horse and died in 9 AD.
So Tiberius succeeded Augustus in 14 AD as emperor.
When Tiberius died in 37 AD and Caligula was assassinated in 41 AD,
Claudius junior was proclaimed emperor, this sestertius issued by junior remembering his father.

I have never heard the terms Senior and Junior used in this way so I assume it is a convention from your country. I am accustomed to seeing Nero Claudius Drusus and Claudius I for the two men. It seems using Claudius I and Claudius Junior for the same person is asking for confusion.

Wow, very nice coin. I have been looking for him... It always seems elusive for me!

I do have his WIFE... And she looks like her dad...

    Nice coin, Andre2!

I am more accustomed to see him referred to as Drusus the Elder, and his nephew, Drusus son of Tiberius as Drusus Junior. Different conventions, I guess.

Here is my example for Drusus the Elder.

The guy from which I bought this coin and 7 others refers to it as Claudius senior,
he is a very active hunter for ancient coins using a piepstok (peepstick) in English a metaldetector :)

We both live at the Limes (river Rhine), 500 yards of a Roman Castellum.

Bought the lot for a friendly price of $75

Thanks for sharing your Claudius senior/Drusus the elder / Nero Claudius Drusus sestertii or whatever you wanna call 'm.

Eduard, your and mine ses look to have the same patina, any idear where it was dug up ?

Excellent price for that lot, Andres!

I too live in the proximity of a roman Castellum. What else can you ask for 'fans' of Roman History like you and me? :).

To answer your question, I do not know where my Drusus sestertius came from. I bought it many years ago from a collector who was selling his collection.
The coin had been repaired by filling the pits with wax. When I discovered this, he was genuinely sorry, and let me keep the sestertius for free. I thought that was very generous
    of him.

Very nice Drusus Andres2, with a great patina, I haven't got a Drusus as yet but quite a few Claudius. This one is my favorite. 2015-01-07 01.08.12-7.jpg
