Hello, im a bit surprised about the mintage of German 1 DM 1968 mintmark D (Munich) and J (Hamburg) (KM 110) both coins have a mintage of 1.3 Mio. but the prices of 1968 D have never got close to the prices of 1968 J. for example another german 1 DM coin in MS: 1 DM 1954 D (mintage: 5.2 mio) sold for 213.00 USD (ebay) I have a 1 DM 1968 D in AU-MS... would you think i got more than 20 dollar for it..? im not sure... comparing the mintage of 1954 D and 1968 D i should get 300-500 its very strange isnt it... When I lived in Germany (2000 bis 2005) I saved some DM before the Euro came out. As I recall, I rarely, if ever, found any from the 1950s. So, mintages alone mght not be the issue - it is how many survived. Also, if German coins are like US coins, there may be a HUGE difference in value between Uncirculated and anything less (even AU) for certain coins.
well it doesnt matter how many survived because there already was a huge difference before the euro. its safe to say the price difference and the prices itself are almost the same than before the euro
