That is a 1,000 coin in MS-60 and 2,000 in MS-63 and this guy has no reserve:eek: Also his feedback is 97%:rolling:

Anyone care to bet whether or not my inquiry about weight will be answered "13.36g"?

I'm not sure a single neg from a NARU'd seller is a reason to worry, but there are plenty of other red flags IMHO.

I've kinda gotten into bust halfs this year, so I'm no expert by far yet, but in my opinion, it's a fake, and not a very good one. The date is too far below the bust, especially the "1" and the "4". They should be much closer, even on a small date variety. Not to mention, I've never seen a bust half tome a golden copper color. I'd be willing to bet it's brass. But, thats just my opinion.
Here's what a real one looks like: http://images.heritagecoin.com/images/NewNames/300/6/8/0/680039.jpg

The coin is real. It appears to be a small date small letters variety. :hatch:

The pic I posted was of a small date coin. The date is too far from the bust and way too close to the bottom rim. I looked at every example I could find on Heritage, PCGS and elsewhere that all have the date in the same place. If it's real, it's a variety not mentioned anywhere.

IN THIS CASE 97% DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING. He has 41 positives and 1 negitive. The negitive is over a year ago. The coin looks good to me.

I am still skeptical of this. One thing I forgot to mention is how full the strike is. I have never seen a bust coin strike this well.

    Could this be a re-strike????

I am not concerned about his rating. There are a lot of people that sell counterfeits not knowing they are counterfeits.

I have seen much stronger strikes on bust halves. The strike on this coin is definitely above average, but by no means points to counterfeit in my opinion.

When in doubt, don't bid, doesn't mean it is or isn't fake, but best to not take chances

agreed with zane, and it appears to be the small date, small letter, stair step date.
    probably O-119, nice R-4.

It looks funny compared to the XF-ish 1832 bust half sitting next to me. The ebay coin's features just seem a little more rounded off (in cross-section) than I would expect. Maybe my plateau'd coin has tainted my concept of appearance though.

In any case, a random check of his completed auctions shows a number of sales of alphabet slabbing companies' coins. That is probably enough for me to disregard the seller..

The coin looks real to me, a small date/small letters variety.

The seller's feedback does include many sales of coins in garbage slabs though.

Did you ask the seller if the coin was a fake?

I guess this guy may take a big loss on this coin if it is real.

That is a 1,000 coin in MS-60 and 2,000 in MS-63 and this guy has no reserve

I see nothing that makes me suspicious. The coin also appears to be in an ANACS slab.

Where do ya see that? I'm sure he would have posted that if it were slabbed.

Did you notice the obverse shows a ring around the coin as though in a holder and the reverse shows no such ring?

Yes I did notice. I also know it is quite common for that be true with pics of ANACS slabs.

I emailed the seller and asked if the coin was in a holder and I received a reply within 20 minutes saying that the coin had not been graded.

Seems like a nice looking piece.
