Added one to my $5 Mint Mark set

Picked up a nice 44-O in PCGS 45. It goes nicely with the rest of the set.

I'm just getting into US pre-1933 gold so many different types of sets you can try and put together really enjoying it.

Is the mintmark the same for the Denver and Dahlonega mints on the $5 coins? So you only know which is which based on the date?

 

Delightful lady, and if that's what she really looks like (and I have little reason to doubt she doesn't) that is one most marvelous addition.

 

What a nice honest coin. It brooks no argument against the belief that it somehow survived better than 170 years completely without accident or deliberate molestation.

Yes. Dahlonega closed in 1861 at the onset of the Civil War, Denver opened in 1906.
