Procrastinating at the airport I found this little wonder : http://www.thehindu.com/2004/08/02/stories/2004080205820400.htm How is yer ancient smallest coin? (the ideal answer would be with a pictur in with yer finger... )
I was afraid to take this one out of the flip to photograph it. If it goes on the floor I'll never see it again. Kebren Troas AR Fraction. Rams head left/Two dots in incuse square. 6mm and 0.43 grams.
I have a bunch of very small Greek coins, but none of my images include my finger. To top that, my photo equipment just got packed for the move. So here is the best I can offer. AEOLIS, KYME AR Hemiobol OBVERSE: Eagle's head left, KY to left (M beneath the head, nearly off flan) REVERSE: Quadrapartite incuse square of mill-sail pattern Struck at Aeolis, 450BC .46g, 7mm SNG Cop 32
I'm with Bing. My finger is photo shy, too, so I used a coin. This is the same Lincold cent shot twice with the 5mm AR from Phocis flipped to the other side so the two images could be fused along a center line. It is not perfectly done since there is a bit of waviness in the steps. You could do this on two fingers if you wish. One would be harder to align.
My bro has this 1/96th electrum stater that isn't allowed to come out of the flip. (Seller's pics) Erin

I dont have enough dexteritiy to balance a coin on my finger and take the picture. Here is my smallest at 7mm
Not my smallest coin but certainly my smallest with the most detail. Uncertain Ionian mint, c. 600 - 550 B.C.; obverse bridled head and neck of Pegasos left; reverse raised cross pattern within incuse square punch. I believe this is the finest known of the type.
What is the size of that in mm / g? What are its attributes? Is it a tiny cast or struck? I have always been fascinated by it.
