With the exception of what looks like a dirty finger may have touched the obverse of the coin, it literally looks to me like this came straight from the mint into someone's hand and carefully put in a roll for me to find. At first I thought it was a regular dime, but with a closer look my heart jumped lol. Should I have this graded?
Even if it came back MS65 (which it won't), it still wouldn't be worth the cost of grading. Heck, I routinely gave away SQ's that graded MS67 to young kids new to the hobby. Chris
State Quarter! As a rule, I would submit a minimum of 50 business strikes at a time. Those that came back MS68 would routinely sell for $150 each. I was lucky to get $10 each for MS67's. Since I was already waaaaay ahead from selling the MS68's, I just started giving away the MS67's. Chris
Ahh I see. Well thanks for that bit of info. So I should be looking for really nice state quarters too? Back when I didn't know much about coin quality, I found this state quarter that was silver, didn't have even a speck on it. I wish I had kept it. I ended up giving it up for its silver or I think the guy just gave me weight in silver and sold the quarter idk but it was the nicest quarter I ever saw. Nevada one.
You're not going to find MS68 SQ's from circulation. I was buying $250 bags direct from the Mint as they were released. Chris
Unless the rolls or bags that you buy were issued the year of the release, never opened and never put into circulation, you're not going to find any that will grade MS68. Anyone owning an MS68-quality coin that was never submitted for grading was foolish. Chris
I was trying to locate some rolls for some of the kids on the west coast, but I gave up. I hate pennies, anyway! Chris
