I wish I was swimming in Judean coins like you. Let me ask you, you've seen my two judeans: the widows mite and this one. But in your opinion, what are the must have coins to have a fairly representative sampling of Judean coins?

Hi Sallent—Thank you for the question! If I had to downsize my Judaean coins to two keepers I would probably select my Pontius Pilate era coins. These coins were produced and in circulation during the most critical time of the Ministry of Jesus and they were very possibly handled by some of the first Christians.

I must confess to you that the two shown below have been canned (slabbed) during my slab happy period a few years ago. :wacky:

No Herod Agrippa I for me, but I do have this one issued by Agrippa II (That's Domitian, though, on the obverse). It's little!

    Æ 11.8 mm; 1.58 g, AD 80
Obv: Laureate bust of Domitian right
Rev: Cornucopia, ET KE (year 25); BA AΓ (abbr. for "King Agrippa")
    Refs: Hendin-1322, TJC-15, Sofaer-215.

Browsing through the under $50 coins at forumancientcoins.com, I saw this (very common) Prutah. I immediately thought how cool it is to have a coin that must have been used in Jerusalem in biblical times. Couldn't help myself, just had to buy it.
I know it is off-center, the legend is only partial and the flan is tight, but I just loved the idea of having it. And the price was $14.

    17.3 mm, 2.199 g, die axis 0o
    Jerusalem mint, year 6 = 42 AD
    Ref.: Hendin 1244; Meshorer TJC 120; RPC I 4981
Obv.: AΓPIΠA BACIΛEWC (of King Agrippa), royal fringed umbrella-like canopy
Rev.: three heads of barley between two leaves, flanked by L - ς (year 6)

Also got a reduced cententionalis, Constans I, just because I loved the rosette-diademed head ornament. Ups, my husband says that I am beginning to get addicted

Nice coin though. Unfortunately I sold the OP coin. I've come to miss it, so I hope whomever bought it is enjoying it.

Welcome to the club @cmezner . Nothing wrong with having an addition to ancients. There's worst stuff to be addicted to out there. Trust me, I should know.
