Found this for sale and the person is asking $30 for everything in the picture. Their picture isnt the best but based on the silver coins I see there's at least $26 in silver. Thinking of pulling the trigger, thoughts? My intent would be to take the coins out of the frame and put in to flips.

There is a peace dollar, walker half, slq, merc, buffalo, and ih penny. Most of the unframed coins in the bottom row are also indian heads.

Glad you brought that up, I had suspicion after googling the sets and seeing what looked like crust around the coins. More than likely the case here too, its a shame.

For $30, I'd probably/definitely pick them up. Then again, I like to gamble :)

Personally, I would leave the display as is, unless there was a "significant" coin in the display.

Note the overlay about 1/3 of the way up, "Obsolete Coins Collection, $45". No way that would have sold for $45 at the source unless it was marketed in the 1960s.

Some of those items must surely be reproductions (although you only need $2.50 in U.S. silver to break even).

Yeah $45 was the original price, my timing of the screen shot was just off enough for the price to barely show up! I just asled $30 to see if he'd bite. Without any better pictures I'm kind of on the fence.

+1 I'd do it just to see if there are any hidden gems (errors/varieties/key dates). It's a really cool display and if they're all run of the mill coins, it makes a great display and I say leave as is.

Agree with leave it as it is unless a rarity is there. It's a neat idea

Yes. Worth the money almost just for the silver. You could probably get $50 for the display to the right guy

I'd buy it for 30, even if the coins are indeed glued, just to hang it on the wall as a decorative piece.

Well here they are! Traffic suuuucked but I think it was worth it, almost $30 in silver alone. The WWI medal was a nice bonus too. I'm tempted to take the coins out of the frame but can't decide.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

For now, keep it intact, and try to trade it for a $50-75 item, something you actually need for your collection.

Thats not a bad idea and probably what I'll end up doing. I was just tempted to take the coins out so I knew if they were glued in or not. My guess is the toning on some of the coins is a result of glue.
