Does anyone here know how to make software? There's no Open Source coin collectors' software that you can configure to your own specifications, nor can you link to it to show off what you have got in your collection. If you are a computer programmer who is interested, please leave a posting.
You can configure an Excel worksheet any way you want it, including the use of links and pictures. I've seen at least a dozen different collection software programs based on Excel, including the one I have substantially modified for my own use.
The user BC Numismatics is previously known as Aidan Work who was (and still is?) banned from this forum in the past. Please stop assuming that programmers come cheap.
I too use Excel for coins and numerous other listings and documentation. If you have Microsoft Office, you should have Excel. The one great thing about Excel is that probably most people on Earth, and some other planets, have it. If you use another computer anywhere, you can take your information with you on a floppy, CD or one of those little things you put into a USB port. Many times I take a list of some items when visiting people and I can show them numerous items as long as they have a computer that can accept Excel. Remember, most places and people do not want you to put a strange program on thier computers so as long as it's Excel, they probably have it.
Aidan, its really not that hard, get some books from the library, or learn from the many sources online, Excel is really not very hard to learn.
