Hi! I have a pretty decent sized short snorter collection, I really enjoy the history each one of the notes has written on it. This particular one I purchased years ago with other non snorter Hawaii notes. I noticed the rank of Major General quickly and then noticed the signature of Curtis LeMay above it. I tried to make out any other names and picked out two, Leslie Cope and Theo. Giavis. Both were artists the army used during the war years in Hawaii. Can anyone else make out any other notable names that I might have missed?
I wondering that whomever owned it hung out in officer's country - obviously they travelled in lofty company. My grandfather had a similar shortsnorter from his sting out in the Pacific theatre - I remember him showing it to me when I was about 6-7 years old then I never saw or heard about it again and he passed away a couple years later. I was chatting with a teller in a bank yesterday and she was sharing a story of finding some blue seals with signatures on them about a year ago and she bought them out of the drawer. Obviously a lot of people have no idea of the significance of them especially now 70+ years after the war ended.
