    Good afternoon,
I recently came across a 1776 Continental Curency coin that I am trying to get more information on. I have read that there are many fakes out there some of which look really good. I am a bit skeptical as I too feel that this is just a fake coin. I'm glad I didn't pay anything for it, but it was given to me by a person that is very knowledgable with coins. There is a R marked into the coin which I feel would stand for "Replica" but it has passed several "Silver Tests" that I have done on it. Please, any information would be helpful.

Bad quality fake, sorry. I seriously doubt it is real silver either.

As for why I say that, look at the extreme mushiness of the design versus real coins. This is indicative of poor quality fakes.

Yeah I figured. It might just be a "silver coated" coin and nothing else. Thanks for the replies though!

@Twopence Pete You really should start a separate thread instead of piggy backing. You'll get more eyes on your coin that way.
