    Great post @dadams, I find the Prefects and Procurators and their coins among the most interesting in ancient numismatics. A part of my fascination has to with how little information we have about any of them.

    Dadams, I just happened to order Handbook of Ancient Greek & Roman Coins earlier today so I was glad to read your post which suggests that was a good buy. I am like you in that I am also new to ancients and I am a bit unfocused. I am certainly interested in Constantine the Great and later Roman eras but have found a number of interesting Greek coins as well. My main interest at this point is coins with a good story to them. And there are a lot of them.

    That handbook can be very useful. Regarding stories and coins, they all have a story. That is part of their fascination and one reason I collect them.
