After 51 pages for the old thread, I though that I'd start a new one.

Today I received a 1979 S proof nickel in change at the Dollar Store.
So, what do you do after yuo realize that?

I asked for change for a quarter (5 nickels) naturally.
Sorry to say that the others were just plain old nickels.

    Still, it was fun.

Actually, I just did, fully that you said that.

I work as a cashier at a grocery store. Someone spent a 50% silver 1968 Canadian quarter.

Last night, someone spent a 1962 90% silver Washington quarter at my register! I knew it was silver as soon as I saw it in her hands.

    Frank:

Was the proof a type 1 or a type 2?

    BTW... nice find!

That's the ONLY thing I miss about running a register. The higher pitched "ting" of silver on a counter, the "real" green currency before the bigheads notes.

    Treashunt,

You would have NEVER received that proof from me!
