After 51 pages for the old thread, I though that I'd start a new one. Today I received a 1979 S proof nickel in change at the Dollar Store. So, what do you do after yuo realize that? I asked for change for a quarter (5 nickels) naturally. Sorry to say that the others were just plain old nickels. Still, it was fun.
I work as a cashier at a grocery store. Someone spent a 50% silver 1968 Canadian quarter. Last night, someone spent a 1962 90% silver Washington quarter at my register! I knew it was silver as soon as I saw it in her hands.
That's the ONLY thing I miss about running a register. The higher pitched "ting" of silver on a counter, the "real" green currency before the bigheads notes. Treashunt, You would have NEVER received that proof from me!
some old lady spent a $5 silver certificate at an ice cream shop i used to work at...once i saw the blue seal i had to take it
