To me this coin looks pretty good. I checked the fake coin images that I'm aware of and see nothing that comes close to this. After I paid I began to wonder if the text on the obverse is a bit too square and we'll defined. To me the style looks fine and the surfaces don't look bad. Am I just being paranoid?
Looks fine to me too! I would've purchased it! Need I even bother saying I'm not an expert LOL But here's a series of the type as listed on acsearch. https://www.acsearch.info/search.ht...1-2&en=1&de=1&fr=1&it=1&es=1&ot=1&images=1&cu
I feel better having a couple more sets of eyes on it. To me it's an attractive coin but I have been burned more than once by a pretty coin. This is only my second Titus denarius and my first is pretty low grade that I bought a couple of years ago when I knew less than I do now.
It looks OK to me. The Rome mint during Titus' reign was producing some very neat and fine denarii. That one is well within the style range.
David, I have noticed that some of his coins are of a higher quality quality than most. The head celator at the Rome mint at the time must have been a perfectionist to some degree. They are every bit as good as some pretty modern coins.
Nice addition @alde. I have a similar reverse design for Vittelius VITELLIUS AR Denarius OBVERSE: A VITELLIVS GERM IMP AVG TR P, laureate head right REVERSE: XV VIR SACR FAC Tripod, raven below, dolphin above Struck at Rome, Apr/Dec 69AD 2.9g, 19mm RIC 109, BMC 39, S 2201
Thanks Bing. It's an interesting reverse for sure. I assume (danerous i know) that both your and my reverses represent the same alter. Yours has the added bird though.
As other have said, stylistically your nice coin seems just fine. Here is the same type from my collection - similar bust style, and the definition and uniformity of the lettering seems pretty similar too.
