... and subtract one of the two shipping directions ... plus insurance. The VAST majority of my submissions are dropped off at shows.
Well guys I dropped them off at a dealer Wednesday. I had another reason to go to the town, so I killed two birds with one stone. A good hour drive. Was a little miffed the guy pretty much made me wait on him. What should of been a simple 5-minute "here are my coins, here is my name and address, here is my money", turned into an almost 40 minute extravaganza of waiting on him to put all my info into the submission form, putting the coins in flips, putting the coins in a mailer, THEN finally asking for the cashola. Also, a bit of a kick in the pants, the $23.05 PCGS charges for return shipping, for less than $300 worth of coins is absolutely ridiculous, and then to top it off with a $10 "handling fee". USPS Charges insurance per $100, so logically, PCGS SHOULD have a separate tier between $1...and $1,000 Luckily the dealer didn't charge me for his time, but honestly after standing there with my thumb up my rear for almost an hour, I felt like he should of paid me!
Whoa. I just realized what I was doing an hour after the ANA Orlando show closed. Yup, I was "Sittin' downtown in a railway station ....".
I will state this and do so repsectfully to ANY dealers...I have and continue to submit coins to be graded but, I NEVER go to a dealer. On the contrary, I submit directly to NGC & PCGS personally as it is more cost efficient and safe. I do not trust ANYONE with my coins except for NGC & PCGS as they are insured and non-bias. That said, you do as you feel comfortable.
If you're a member of the ANA you can submit coins to NGC without joining any "club" or pay an extra fee. The members of the club I belong to, including myself, send error coin to ANACS. Their prices and turnaround time are reasonable. They also come to our coin shows, so some members save them until then.
Am I the only one not at all surprised by the petty complaining? The submissions could have been given to him free and he'd still come here a whining. Apparently some things never change...
