I want to get a nice album for my presidential dollars. I want it to include proofs, and p-d issues. I want to spend about 20 dollars on the album. Which should I get?

I personally like to use Whitman Classic albums but I dont think theres a place in those for the proof issues so you may want to check into the Danscos. They're pretty nice also. Either way you'll spent 20 couple dollars.

Now that is misleading and not really the truth. Many garbage cans are metal and not cheap by any means. Not sure of where you live but we have restrictions on what can and can not be thrown in those cans. I think our garbage collection agency would strongly object to using thier services for such junk. :D

In reality, if you check out the Whitman site you may find Albums for those things. If they don't have pages for all you want, you can always buy the blank pages from them. They also sell press on gold colored numbers and letters so you can lable your own pages however you want. They used to sell blank Album Covers also. Not sure. Check their web site.

I'm getting a Whitman Classic for my dollars just like I did for my quarters. It's just for ones I find in circulation. It just holds P and D. No proof spots. $5 at Wal-Mart or local hobby shop.

I got a whitman for my presidential dollars. I'm hesitant about putting proofs in a folder.

I'm probably going to mount a set of proofs in Air-Tites and an album:

    http://www.air-tites.com/air-tite_coin_albums.htm

I believe the "A" cards are the ones I want: 9 holes per card, 6 cards per album.

These folks here are the only ones I found who sell the album cards with different combinations of holes than the standard:

    http://www.airtiteholders.com/Categories/subitem.aspx?SID=607

For example, you can get the "A" sized holes on cards with 5, 7, 8, or 9 holes, not just the standard 9 holes. Also, you can get cards with a mix of different sizes. #425A has two "A", two "I", and one "H" sized holes.

I bought one of these just because I wanted to keep coins in capsules that I could remove and easily see both sides. I also bought several Dansco albums which are very attractive, but hold only P's and D's. I find the available Airtite albums to have an odd format (like a 4X6 photo album) and are fairly blah looking. I supposed you could add labeling to the pages but they won't look as nice on the shelf as a Dansco album.

I agree, I would not put proof coins in a regular album .

That’s a bit of a problem. Also, they seem to require a lot of volume for the number of coins they hold, and I’ve seen the coins (in Air-Tite holders) pop out of the display cards.

I’m still committed to Air-Tites, though, so I’ve been considering switching from albums to coin chests:

What bugs me about those is I don’t know if the coins will spill out of their compartments when you turn the chest upside down.

I've used Whitman Classic Albums for as long as they have been produced. I now have 97 of them. Most of the ones for modern coins have places for Proofs. I put those proofs in those slots. I have been doing this for many, many years and no problems yet. 10 sets of Lincoln Cents alone, filled and including Proofs. No problems with proofs or anything else. Same with Roosevelt Dimes and many others. However, who knows what a few hundred years may bring. I'll let you know.
