Dupondius of Nero, Obverse IPM NERO CAESAR AVG P MAX TR P PP “Emperor Nero Caesar Augustus Pontifex Maximus (High priest in Roman religion) Tribunicia (Representative of the people) Pater Patriae (Father of his country)” Reverse: VICTORIA AUGUSTI “ Victory for our emperiors” S C “Senatus Consultus” Sear 1970 Senatus Consultus—usually on bronze coins, by the consent of the Roman Senate. The goddess of victory Denarius of Nero, Obverse NERO CAESAR AVG GERM “Nero caesar augustus Germanicus” Reverse: VESTA Vesta - the goddess of home and hearth. This denarius of Nero features the temple of Vesta on the reverse. Vesta is the virgin Roman goddess of the hearth and home. The temple was one of Nero’s rebuilding projects after Rome’s big fire which destroyed a large part of the city in 64 AD. Sear - 1946 Some believe that Nero had blond hair. If Nero had had his way, he would have been an entertainer. Instead he became an emperor after his mother killed off Caudius to get him there. In some ways he was just a spoiled brat, but he was not as bad as some emperors. Caligula and Caracalla were worse.
